Rokid is trying to turn its smart glasses into a platform rather than a camera with a voice assistant. Anyone with an idea can now build for the frames through AIUI Studio, a browser-based tool the company rolled out worldwide during IFA Berlin 2026, turning everyday language into working spatial software.
Payments are arriving too. WeChat Pay has released a software development kit for smart glasses, and Rokid AI Glasses are among the first products to support it. A wearer can start a scan by voice, look at a QR code, and slide the glasses’ temple to confirm the charge. The setup still needs a paired smartphone, and the base version is capped at RMB 200 a day while it remains in beta.
The two moves pull in the same direction. Making glasses genuinely useful, rather than a novelty, depends less on new hardware than on services people already use every day. Paying for a snack or launching a custom app by voice hints at what everyday use might look like once the novelty wears off.
