Ray-Ban Meta owners can now launch turn-by-turn navigation straight from their frames. Firmware version 128 brings voice-activated directions, so a command like “Hey Meta, navigate to Times Square” starts a route without touching a phone.
The feature previously belonged to the pricier Ray-Ban Display line. On standard models, navigation meant unlocking a phone, starting a maps app, and streaming audio instructions over Bluetooth. Meta also added an optional spatial audio toggle that uses AI to reshape stereo music, podcasts, and navigation prompts into a three-dimensional soundstage.
Mandarin Chinese joins the language roster for voice controls, calling, messaging, media playback and Meta AI queries. Anti-tampering protections get stricter too, aimed at catching camera modifications as Meta moves to stamp out covert recording.
The update keeps the glasses firmly in hands-free territory, chipping away at the reasons to reach for a phone mid-walk. It arrives as Meta leans on software updates to keep the Ray-Ban line relevant between hardware generations.
