A fan favorite from the Half-Life: Alyx mod scene is stepping out on its own. Gunman Contracts Stand Alone, rebuilt from scratch in Unity rather than Source 2, makes its Steam early access debut next week with new weapons, new contracts, and PC VR plus flatscreen support.
Creator Arne Burkert, known to mod fans as ANB_Seth, set the September 10 launch and priced the opening build at $25, with the tag set to rise as free updates land on the road to version 1.0. Day-one content spans three story contracts, replayable score-chasing modes, and a training base for the gunman.
Players step into the role of a professional operative serving a shadowy order that dishes out action-movie justice against a crime syndicate called the Collectors. The date also keeps the spotlight on Valve’s Steam Frame: Burkert said at the August VR Games Showcase that the game would arrive alongside the headset, though Valve has yet to confirm its own launch.
