After a year of leaks, Meta’s Project Phoenix finally has a shipping name, a weight and a price. Meta VR Glasses, shown off at Meta Connect 2026, push the brains of the system into a tethered companion box so only about 100 grams rest on your head.
Inside the visor sit twin 120Hz micro-OLED panels, marketed as a 5K Infinite Display: 2,412 x 2,288 per eye, or 37 pixels per degree. Quest 3 manages 25 PPD by comparison, and Meta argues the tighter roughly 88-degree diagonal field of view lets it top Apple’s Vision Pro on sharpness despite carrying fewer pixels.
The companion box carries the rest. Inside a 300-gram pack the size of two stacked phones sit Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite processor, 12GB of RAM, 128GB of onboard storage, a microSD expansion slot and a battery Meta rates above three hours of mixed use. A thin fibre-optic tether moves power and data between the two halves.
There are no controllers in the box. Eye tracking, pinch gestures and a thumb rub handle selection and scrolling, with Quest Touch Plus pads sold separately or paired from an existing Quest 3. The headset runs the familiar Quest operating system and store.
Sales open in Spring 2027 at $1,300, in Standard and Large head sizes across 24 markets. Meta also calls the headset its first IMAX Enhanced certified device, with Dolby Vision support.
