After months of teases, Pico’s next-generation headset has an official identity. The ByteDance-owned company plans to reveal the Pico Space Pro at an event in Beijing on September 2, and the device is widely seen as the Project Swan standalone VR headset it first teased in March.
Specs remain unofficial, though leaks describe microOLED panels at 4,000 pixels per inch with roughly 40 pixels per degree. A dual-chip design is expected: custom XR silicon handles perception and imaging, while a separate flagship processor reportedly delivers more than twice the CPU and GPU performance of the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2.
Pico has exhibited at multiple shows since the March tease, but the hardware itself has only surfaced once: a rendered setup clip from leaker Luna that has since been pulled from X.
Pico typically livestreams its events with English dubbing, and the September 2 showcase is expected to reveal pricing, release timing, and global availability. A debut in the same window as Meta Connect and Apple’s fall lineup would set up the most crowded holiday season yet for standalone headsets.
