Xreal says more than 10,000 people have placed reservations for its Aura glasses ahead of this fall’s release, and the $99 early-bird deposit tier, which bundled a $199 launch credit, is now completely sold out. Xreal says demand has been strong from consumers, developers, and enterprise customers alike.
What sets Aura apart is its operating system: it is the first AR pair built on Google’s Android XR, which unlocks Android apps from the Play Store plus a growing library of XR-specific software. Final pricing is still unannounced, though Xreal has said the glasses will not exceed $1,500 before taxes, and the reservations remain refundable.
The hardware leans on birdbath optics with a 70-degree field of view in a frame that weighs under 95 grams on the head. A pocketable compute unit tethered by cable carries the processing load in a split architecture that pairs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset with Xreal’s in-house X1S Spatial Coprocessor.
Where Aura steps beyond typical birdbath designs is in its tracking: full six degrees of freedom, hand gestures, and multimodal AI features all run on the glasses. The milestone gives Xreal momentum as Android XR hardware starts to reach shelves this fall, though the company still faces the same question as rivals: whether reservation numbers survive a final price reveal.
