Meta has confirmed its annual Connect developer conference for September 23-24, and a teaser image accompanying the announcement appears to show a new pair of smart glasses alongside the event branding.
The company teased the event alongside what it called “a mystery pair of smart glasses,” fueling speculation that Meta will unveil the next generation of its Ray-Ban Meta line or an entirely new form factor. Meta has been on an aggressive smart glasses push this year, launching three new models under its own Meta Glasses brand at $299, including a Kylie Jenner collaboration.
Road to VR reports the event will take place at Meta’s Menlo Park headquarters. Meta typically uses Connect to showcase its latest hardware, AI features, and mixed reality roadmap. This year’s event is expected to include significant updates to Meta AI on glasses, including the rumored always-on AI capabilities the company has been internally debating.
The timing is notable: Samsung is expected to launch its own Galaxy Glasses on July 22, and Google’s first Gemini-powered smart glasses arrive this fall. Meta enters Connect 2026 with momentum — daily smart glasses usage tripled year-over-year, and the company sold 7 million units in 2025 through its EssilorLuxottica partnership.
FCC filings earlier this year suggested Meta and EssilorLuxottica are preparing at least two new Ray-Ban smart glasses models. A Connect reveal would align with a fall launch cycle. We’ll know more when the event opens in September.
