A Chinese glasses maker is betting a pop star can sell camera eyewear in the West. INMO’s Magic AI Glasses J are now on sale in the United States and Canada, and the 40-gram frame carries a design credit from Jackson Wang.
The hardware is familiar territory for the category. An 8MP point-of-view camera captures photos and video by voice, with clips syncing to a companion app. “Hey Magic” drives an assistant that handles object recognition, reminders and recommendations, while touch controls and a dedicated AI button cover the rest. The glasses do real-time conversational translation and simultaneous interpretation, offer walking and cycling navigation through a paired phone, and use open-ear speakers for music and calls.
INMO also used the launch to flag its GO3, which takes the other road entirely. That model adds a binocular MicroLED waveguide, rendering 640 x 480 across a 30-degree field of view and peaking at 1,500 nits. Translation covers 98 real-time languages and nine offline ones, alongside an AI teleprompter, meeting notes and AR navigation. The trade-off is heft: roughly 58 grams, eased by a battery pack INMO says a wearer can swap out in about five seconds.
The two frames show a company hedging. One pair chases fashion and casual capture, where the camera and the designer are the pitch. The other chases the display-first specification sheet and the productivity buyer.
