Fitting an Even Realities G2 with prescription varifocals can cost more than the camera-free glasses themselves in Japan, a price list published September 30 shows.
Two companies assembled the figures. Acalie, based in Nagoya, distributes the G2 in Japan, while AI Japan operates the Aimegane optical chain and carries out the in-store fitting at its branches. The frame on its own is 99,800 yen with tax.
The varifocal route is where the cost concentrates, stepping up by lens index to 120,800 yen, 135,800 yen, or 150,800 yen. Single-vision glass is cheaper by a wide margin: 26,800 yen, 37,800 yen, or 58,800 yen for the matching 1.60, 1.67, and 1.74 indices. Pair the frame with the top 1.74 varifocal option and the total reaches 250,600 yen.
Every prescription pair is ground individually rather than drawn from stock, and the distributor’s guidance for the interval between ordering and collection is about four weeks. Two extras also sit on the sheet. Buyers can add the Even R1 ring with its charger for 41,800 yen. A set that pairs a clip with a pouch is the other, at 16,800 yen. There are two frame shapes on offer, the G2 A and the G2 B, each in a choice of three colors, and a charging case is included.
Fitting is scarce. Five Aimegane shops, covering Chiba, Saitama, and Tochigi, hold the only certification for in-store prescription fitting, widened from three. The chain’s network runs to 38 stores.
