Meta’s eyewear is picking up a well-known kitchen companion. The Times’ recipe app is preparing a hands-free mode that runs on both the screen-equipped frames and the audio-only pairs in the broader AI glasses range.
Rather than screening the app, it condenses long written method text into brief spoken cues for the dish at hand. Both companies frame that as the Times’ editorial voice rebuilt for listening, keeping the author’s instruction intact while a cook keeps both hands in the pan.
The integration was previewed during Meta’s developer state of the union, and it is not available yet. Meta says hands-free mode will roll out later this fall, without pinning an exact date.
Display glasses have struggled in the kitchen before. An earlier hands-on found recipe support arriving only through Meta AI, with steps vanishing from the lens before a cook could work through them.
The move follows several app partnerships landing on Meta eyewear as the company tries to prove the glasses earn a place in daily routines rather than only in demos.
