North American regulators have pulled a pair of AR glasses off shelves over a heat problem. INMO International Technology is recalling its AIR3 Smart Glasses because the left side of the frame can overheat during extended use, creating a burn hazard.
Three parties issued the notice: Health Canada, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and INMO itself. Of the affected stock, 1,643 pairs went to American buyers and another 120 to Canadians, every one of them black with an interior right-arm label reading “AIR3” and “INMO”.
By September 17 there had been ten overheating reports south of the border and no injuries, the notice states. North of it, Health Canada has recorded neither incidents nor injuries.
The remedy is unusual for a hardware recall. Owners are told to stop using the glasses immediately and update the firmware to version 3.16 before wearing them again, pointing to a software fix for thermal behaviour rather than a return. The affected units were sold between December 2025 and August 2026 and were manufactured in China.
Canadian law bars recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away. Owners can reach INMO on 1-800-689-8547 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET on weekdays, or by email at support.usa@inmoxr.com.
