Unseen Reality asked for $50,000. It got $1.29M. The URXR One Kickstarter closed on September 18, roughly six weeks after going live on August 4 and clearing its target within minutes.
At 93 grams it is light for two reasons: the optics are thin pancakes, and the heavy parts live elsewhere. A battery and compute unit would have added bulk, so URXR One borrows both from a connected device, a laptop, phone, tablet or handheld plugged in over USB-C DisplayPort.
Inside, 1.03-inch micro-OLED panels put 2,448 by 2,064 pixels in front of each eye. The spec sheet lists a 90Hz refresh, about 36 pixels per degree, a 90-degree diagonal view that measures 80 degrees across by 56 vertically, and a spatial processing unit handling six degrees of freedom.
Unseen Reality pitches URXR One as a display replacement rather than a standalone platform, aimed at flatscreen games, films, web browsing and spreadsheets.
Early backers took the headset at $800. Deliveries are pencilled in for mid-October, while the wider price is set at $900 – though Unseen Reality has said nothing firm about when ordinary orders ship.
