Valve is quietly wiring its storefront for a big Steam Frame launch sweetener: a bundled copy of Half-Life: Alyx. Labels tucked into the headset’s product page point to a promotion pairing the $60 VR classic with hardware purchases.
Analyst Brad Lynch surfaced the backend strings, including “HLAlyxPromoButtons” and “Frame Alyx Promo,” alongside a hardware promotions category. Valve has run this play before: purchasing an Index has long included Alyx at no extra cost, an offer that remains active.
Six years on, the $60 shooter still sets the standard for room-scale storytelling, holding a perfect score from Road to VR and the PC VR Game of the Year crown from 2020. It also anchors an active mod scene, including the upcoming Gunman Contracts Stand Alone, which is due September 10.
A bundle would arrive at a delicate moment. Valve has ruled out first-party Steam Frame content, and the headset’s price is expected to run high on the back of memory and chip shortages. Pairing the device with its flagship game gives skeptics a reason to pre-order, though it also raises a question: how many buyers will have a PC powerful enough to play it?
