Once a fixture of the Quest roguelike lineup, In Death Unchained has gone roughly three years without a real update. Superbright ends that stretch on September 29, closing the current season and opening Fall Season 2026 on the same date.
The outgoing season and its leaderboards reset together. Players keep their achievements, and Unchained’s season model awards Legend Points based on overall performance, which then rank players up and unlock rewards.
Superbright knows the gap ran long. The studio is handing bonus Legend Points to anyone who played the outgoing season, including players who log in between now and the reset. According to chief executive Wojtek’s message on the game’s Discord, the bonus is large enough that someone starting from zero can still unlock a reward.
The studio’s own history explains the quiet. Superbright, based in Ukraine, described years of layoffs and closures across the games industry, with the ongoing war adding a further layer of disruption. The last meaningful Unchained update was a Quest 3 enhancement patch.
One caveat for veterans: Superbright only handles Unchained, the Quest version. The original In Death on SteamVR came from Solfar Studios and has gone untouched for years. The revival is specifically a Quest story, and the clock now runs to September 29.
