Xreal (formerly Nreal) has dominated the consumer AR glasses space for years, but even the best products can improve. With the Xreal One series on the horizon, we’ve compiled our wish list — the features, improvements, and innovations that could take Xreal from category leader to indispensable wearable.
Our Five Wishes for Xreal One
1. All-Day Battery — Current Xreal Air models offer about 3 hours of active use. The next generation needs a step-change. Whether through more efficient displays, larger battery compartments, or hot-swappable temple batteries, getting to 6+ hours would transform the use case from “demo gadget” to “daily driver.”
2. Full 6DoF Tracking — Xreal’s current 3DoF is adequate for media consumption, but true spatial computing requires six degrees of freedom. Adding outward-facing cameras would unlock room-scale AR and persistent object placement.
3. Better Styling — The Air series has a distinctive look, but it’s unmistakably tech. Xreal should partner with fashion brands for frame designs that don’t scream “I’m wearing AR glasses.” Removable front panels and thinner temples would help.
4. Improved Software — Nebula is functional but limited. Xreal needs a robust app store, better developer tools, and partnerships with major productivity and entertainment apps.
5. Integrated Audio — Currently Xreal relies on external earbuds or the Beam accessory for audio. Integrating open-ear speakers into the temples would make the Air series a truly all-in-one device.
Xreal has the foundation, the brand recognition, and the technical expertise. What they need now is the vision to push beyond iterative improvements and deliver something genuinely transformative.
