Lenskart has added to its stake in Indian extended-reality startup AjnaLens, spending INR 8 Cr for another 1.8% of the company.
The purchase, disclosed in a regulatory filing, lifts Lenskart’s holding in AjnaLens parent Dimension NXG to 9.01% from 7.21%. It is the third top-up this year: the eyewear retailer bought 0.68% in February and 1.69% in July, taking its stake up 4.17 percentage points for a combined INR 18.5 Cr.
Lenskart said the investment strengthens its ties to the XR, AI and smart-wearable ecosystem and backs technology-led opportunities in smart eyewear. The company first backed AjnaLens in July last year, aiming to pair its frame design and engineering with AjnaLens’ XR stack.
Founded in 2014 by Pankaj Raut, Abhijit Patil and Abhishek Tomar, AjnaLens builds XR hardware and software, largely for learning and enterprise customers in defence and industry. It reported turnover of INR 10.4 Cr in FY26, down 19% from INR 12.8 Cr a year earlier.
For Lenskart, the bet sits inside a wider eyewear play. The retailer has launched Phonic audio glasses, partnered with Qualcomm on a smart-glasses stack, and says its B by Lenskart glasses passed 30,000 waitlist users at the end of FY26. It runs 3,459 stores in India.
AI glasses are drawing fresh capital across Asia, with Chinese maker INMO raising nearly RMB 1B this month while Alibaba, Rokid and Samsung all push frames that pair cameras and assistants with everyday eyewear.
