Apple has shipped visionOS 27, the fourth major release for Vision Pro, to both the M2 and M5 versions of the headset.
The headline is Siri AI, Apple’s large language model rebuild of its assistant, now rolling out in beta to owners who join a waitlist in Settings. It runs in English only for now, with the device and Siri languages set to match.
On the headset the assistant appears as a persistent orb you can pin to a spot in the room. Looking at it and speaking starts a request without the wake word. The release also adds a dedicated Siri app that keeps past conversations, giving users a first-party alternative to third-party chatbots.
Apple says the assistant leans on its next-generation Foundation Models, developed with Google and based on Gemini, with simpler tasks handled on-device and heavier ones passed to Private Cloud Compute.
The update adds preconfigured held-object tracking, an infrared-tracked accessories framework and high-quality unfoveated screen recording, plus a more expressive voice for Siri on the M5 headset.
Apple has pitched the assistant as a conversational layer over the headset’s spatial features. For a device whose gaming ambitions have been trimmed, the software push is now carrying more of the platform’s weight.
