Acer is re-entering the XR market after a seven-year absence with two very different smart glasses: the AR Vision GR0, a tethered AR display, and the GI0 AI Glasses, a Meta-style AI wearable starting at $300.
The AR Vision GR0 connects via cable to smartphones and PCs, delivering dual micro-OLED displays that project a virtual 172-inch screen viewed from six meters away. It targets gaming, productivity, and privacy-conscious users who want a large display in a compact form factor. Pricing starts at $500 in North America, with European availability in Q4 2026 for €600 and Australian arrival in Q3 2026 for $1,000 AUD.
The GI0 AI Glasses take a different approach. They are fully wireless, weigh under 50 grams, and rely on Google Gemini for AI assistance. A 12MP camera enables first-person photo and video capture, real-time AI translation, live captions, and voice recording. Starting at $300, they undercut Meta’s own-brand AI glasses while offering a similar feature set. Acer says the GI0 includes 32GB of onboard storage for media.
Both models run on Android and iOS companion apps. The AR Vision GR0 also supports Windows PC connectivity for productivity use cases.
Acer’s move marks a significant validation of the smart glasses category. The company’s last XR product was the OJO 500, a Windows VR headset released in 2019. Since then, Acer invested in its SpatialLabs glasses-free 3D displays. Now it is betting on two distinct form factors to capture different market segments, with the GI0 going head-to-head with Meta’s Ray-Ban lineup and the AR Vision GR0 competing against tethered AR displays from XREAL and VITURE.
